TECHNICAL SERVICES MANAGER (Nutritional Ingredients, Supplements)

Our client is a large, global, conglomerate based out of South Korea. Based on rapid global growth, they are looking to hire an experienced TECHNICAL SERVICES MANAGER to support their Nutritional Ingredients Sales team focused on the North American Market. They would like this person to be based in Seoul, South Korea for the first 18-24 months, before being transferred/relocated back into a US based role. The TECHNICAL SERVICES MANAGER will be responsible for lead generation of new businesses with food amino acids, other nutritional ingredients and new-products based on knowledge of human nutrition, sports nutrition/supplement, and/or other related industries. Develop new applications of food grade amino acids and other functional ingredients and provide differentiated solutions to customers. This will become the go-to person for food grade amino acids, pipelined products and other nutritional ingredients’ functional effects in human health and nutrition to help setting up business strategy and to work with target customer’s technical teams.
Develop new applications and nutritional solutions with food grade amino acids and other functional ingredients in foods, beverages, nutraceutical foods and health foods aligned with market trend and to meet customers’ needs.
Help generate new demand for new products (and services), to expand current market, and to create new businesses
Represent Company as a technical business developer and generate strategic collaboration opportunities with key target customers
Generate technical marketing contents for global promotion
Monitor global trends in human health and nutrition market and provide new business opportunities/ideas to IMC
Communicate effectively with regional sales office managers to help their sales activities
Help IMC set up strategy on product portfolio expansion of human health and Manage vendors by setting expectations, communicating requirements, and building relationships
Must be from the US and be willing to relocate and work abroad in South Korea for approximately two years. Must speak and write English fluently.
Must have at least a BA/BS degree required. Masters or Ph’D in food related majors such as food science, human and nutrition, physiology, food chemistry, food engineering would be ideal, but not required.
Must have at least 5+ years or technical exposure to the Nutraceutical, Nutritional Ingredient, Dietary Supplement or Nutritional/Healthy Foods industries.
Prefer candidates that have some R&D, Product Development experience
Must have strong knowledge of global food and human nutrition industry
Must be up-to-date with changing market trends in both micro and macro scope. Should be able to (help) set up technical marketing strategy and discover new business opportunities
Must have B2B Marketing and/or Business Development experience with a similar ingredient/food manufacturer. MBA would be helpful.
Must be knowledgeable with respect to nutraceutical ingredients, in terms of functional efficacy, sensory, physical and chemical properties and their applications
Must understand the New Product Development Process
Must be able to “co-lead” clinical studies when needed
Candidates should have basic knowledge of food related regulation and regulatory aspects
Must be able to help develop prototype of nutraceutical products and applications
