QUALITY MANAGER (FLAVOR MANUFACTURER)
SAN FRENANDO, CA
Our client is seeking an experienced QA Manager with 5+ years’ experience in Quality / Food Safety in a food, beverage ingredient or FLAVOR processing environment, with extensive knowledge and experience in developing and managing Quality programs and activities.
The QA Manager will ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, federal and state regulations and industry best practices including GMP and HACCP. The position is based in California, North of Los Angeles (close to San Fernando, CA)
Ensure compliance with all quality programs, including GMP and HACCP
Manage SQF program
Perform quality inspections of equipment and finished products in accordance with specifications and procedures during the manufacturing processes.
Measure and monitor: temperature, metal detection, Environmental Monitoring Program samples (swabs/sponges), ATP testing, and other Quality checkpoints on a scheduled and/or as needed basis
Perform organoleptic and/or physical testing on raw materials and finished goods such as: weight, moisture, pH, density (bulk powder and liquid), tasting, color verification, etc. on a scheduled and/or as needed basis.
Perform packaging line, equipment, and area inspections in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Ensure balances, and other testing equipment, are calibrated in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Collect samples of unfinished and finished product per sampling instructions and frequencies
Must be able to interpret testing data/results related to production monitoring/testing and make sound decisions based on this information
Evaluate and assist in developing processes, specifications and critical control points in manufacturing, for ongoing quality assurance of all finished goods.
Manage HACCP assessments and reassessments.
Compose and edit HACCP plans and strategies for new products.
Maintain current library for all GMPs and SOPs.
Participate and contribute to continuous improvement of departmental SOPs.
Ensure that all new regulations (i.e.: FSMA) are quickly and accurately implemented.
Implement Quality Assurance Programs that effectively monitor product manufacturing that result in company compliance with regulatory SOP, GMP, HACCP and SQF level 3 standards for third party audit and customer product requirements.
Establish manufacturing specifications, standards, protocols and procedures for quality control and new product development.
Develop and execute training programs that support the Company’s objective in compliance with quality and food safety.
Must have at least a BA/BS degree. BS and MS degree in Food Science, Microbiology or related degree is a PLUS.
Must have at least 5+ years of Food, Ingredient, Flavor or Pharmaceutical Manufacturing - Quality experience
Must have food, beverage, ingredient or flavor manufacturing experience.
Must have at least 2+ years prior experience as Manager in QA
Prefer SQF Practitioner
Must have strong math skills
Must have detailed knowledge and track record of successful implementation of food manufacturing policies and procedures (GMP).
Must be self-motivated, confident energetic and possess the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment
Must have HAACP certification (CHA) and proven ability to write HACCP plans.
Must have STRONG written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Must have STRONG Microsoft Office skills.
